Eye Vet Club

Membership Terms, Clinical Disclaimer and Community Guidelines

Effective 29 September 2026

Operated by Insight Veterinary Education Pty Ltd, a company registered in Australia, ACN 702 109 822, ABN 13 702 109 822 ("we", "us", "the Club operator").

Eye Vet Club has members in many countries. These terms are written to apply internationally, but veterinary regulation, medicines law, consumer law and data protection law differ substantially between jurisdictions. Where local mandatory law gives you greater protection than these terms, that law applies to you.

Please read this document in full before participating. By joining Eye Vet Club, accessing its content, posting a case or using any information obtained through it, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these terms.

1. Definitions

"Eye Vet Club" or "the Club" means the private online community operated by us on the Skool platform, together with all associated content, lectures, webinars, journal club materials, case discussions, downloadable resources, forums and live sessions.

"Member", "you" means any individual granted access to the Club.

"Contributors" means our owners, directors, employees, administrators, moderators, lecturers, guest speakers, subject experts and any other member who posts content or comments within the Club.

"Treating veterinarian" means the veterinary surgeon or veterinarian with direct clinical responsibility for the patient under discussion, in whichever country they practise.

"Content" means any information, opinion, image, video, recording, document, comment, case discussion or other material made available within the Club by any person.

"Your regulator" means the veterinary registration or licensing authority governing your practice, for example the RCVS in the United Kingdom, the relevant state or territory veterinary board and AVBC in Australia, the relevant state veterinary medical board in the United States, the Veterinary Council of India, the relevant competent authority in an EU member state, or the equivalent body in your country.

2. What Eye Vet Club is

Eye Vet Club is an educational and professional peer support community for veterinary professionals with an interest in ophthalmology. It exists to help members build knowledge, confidence and clinical reasoning through:

  • structured educational content, including recorded lectures, webinars and written resources
  • journal club discussion of published literature
  • peer to peer discussion of clinical topics and anonymised cases
  • practical tips, technique guidance and equipment discussion
  • a professional network of colleagues at varying stages of ophthalmic experience

All Content is provided for general educational and informational purposes only.

3. What Eye Vet Club is not

This section is central to these terms and members should read it carefully.

Eye Vet Club is not:

  • a veterinary consultation, referral or second opinion service
  • a diagnostic, telemedicine or teleophthalmology service
  • a formal reporting service for images, photographs, videos, ultrasound, electroretinography, ocular imaging or any other diagnostic modality
  • an emergency or out of hours advice service
  • a substitute for hands on patient assessment by a suitably qualified veterinarian
  • a substitute for formal specialist referral where referral is clinically indicated
  • a recognised qualification, certificate, residency, training programme or pathway toward specialist status in any country
  • an accredited or registered CPD, CE or CVE provider in any jurisdiction, unless a specific piece of Content is expressly stated to carry accreditation and names the accrediting body
  • a source of legal, regulatory, tax, employment, insurance or business advice
  • a provider of professional indemnity insurance or any other form of insurance cover

Nothing posted within the Club creates a veterinarian, client and patient relationship (however described in your jurisdiction, including a VCPR) between an animal owner, a treating veterinarian and the Club operator or any Contributor. No Contributor accepts, assumes or shares clinical responsibility for any patient discussed within the Club.

3.1 No practice of veterinary medicine in your jurisdiction

Contributors are registered to practise in specific countries only and are not registered, licensed or authorised in every jurisdiction from which members participate. Nothing said or written within the Club is intended as, or should be construed as, the practice of veterinary medicine, surgery or telemedicine in the member's jurisdiction, or as an act requiring local registration or licensure there. Members must not represent to clients, employers, insurers or regulators that a patient has been assessed, reviewed or reported on by a specialist through the Club.

Members should be aware that in some jurisdictions the law restricts veterinary advice on a specific patient to a veterinarian who has personally examined that patient. Where that applies to you, Club discussion cannot satisfy that requirement.

4. Eligibility and access

Membership is open to qualified veterinarians, registered or qualified veterinary nurses and technicians, veterinary students and other veterinary professionals as we determine from time to time. You must be at least 18 years of age. We may ask you to verify your professional registration or student status and may suspend access pending verification.

Membership is personal to you. Login credentials must not be shared, transferred, sold or used by more than one individual. Practice wide, group or multi user access is available only under a separate written agreement with us. Where we reasonably believe an account is being shared, we may suspend or terminate it without refund.

Members are responsible for ensuring that their participation in the Club, and their clinical practice, comply with the law and professional regulation of their own country. We do not represent that the Club or its Content is appropriate, permitted or lawful in every jurisdiction, and we may decline or withdraw membership where local law makes provision of the service impractical or unlawful, including under applicable sanctions or export control rules.

5. Membership, fees and cancellation

Fees and currency. Membership fees, billing frequency and any included or excluded features are set out at the point of purchase. Fees are stated in US dollars (USD) and are payable in advance. Your bank or card issuer may apply conversion charges, which are your responsibility.

Taxes. Fees are inclusive of Australian GST where Australian GST applies. Supplies to members outside Australia are generally treated as GST-free exports. Fees are stated exclusive of any sales tax, VAT or withholding tax applicable in your own country. Where we or the Skool platform are required to collect such tax, it will be shown at checkout. Where you are required to account for tax locally, that is your responsibility.

Payment processing. Payments are collected through the Skool platform and its payment processors. We do not store your card details.

Renewal. Membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then current rate unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Cancellation. You may cancel at any time through your Skool account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access until that date. We do not provide pro rata refunds for partial periods.

Refunds. We offer a 14 day refund window from your first purchase of membership. Renewals are not refundable. Australian Consumer Law does not provide a general cooling off period for online purchases, but consumers in some countries, including the United Kingdom and the European Union, have statutory withdrawal rights that cannot be excluded. Where such rights apply to you, they are unaffected by this clause. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law consumer guarantees (see section 12).

Price changes. We may change membership fees. We will give at least 30 days' notice before a change takes effect for existing members, and you may cancel before renewal if you do not wish to continue at the new rate.

Changes to the offering. Content, features, session frequency and contributor line up may change over time. We do not guarantee that any particular lecture, series, speaker or feature will remain available.

Termination by us. We may suspend or terminate membership immediately for breach of these terms, for conduct that damages the Club or its members, or for non payment. Where we terminate without cause, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

6. Clinical disclaimer

6.1 Educational purpose only

All Content is provided for general education. It is not tailored to any individual patient and must not be treated as case specific clinical direction.

6.2 Information is member supplied and may be incomplete

Any comment, suggestion or opinion offered in response to a case is based entirely on the history, images, recordings, test results and description provided by the member presenting it. That information may be incomplete, inaccurate, poorly reproduced or stripped of important clinical context. Ophthalmic assessment in particular depends heavily on magnification, illumination, image quality and direct examination, none of which can be replicated by a photograph or written description. No warranty or guarantee is given as to the accuracy, completeness, currency, suitability or clinical outcome of any Content.

6.3 The treating veterinarian remains solely responsible

Regardless of any discussion within the Club, the treating veterinarian remains solely and exclusively responsible for:

  • examining and assessing the patient
  • reaching and confirming a diagnosis and considering differential diagnoses
  • deciding whether any suggested investigation, treatment or surgical procedure is appropriate for that patient
  • obtaining valid, informed client consent, including consent to any risks
  • selecting, prescribing, dispensing and administering medicines lawfully in their own country, including compliance with any prescribing cascade, off label or extra label use rules, compounding restrictions, controlled drug requirements and national product authorisation and availability
  • performing any procedure within the limits of their own competence, training and available equipment
  • monitoring the patient and arranging appropriate follow up care
  • recognising when referral or specialist assistance is indicated and arranging it promptly
  • maintaining accurate clinical records
  • complying with all applicable professional, ethical, regulatory and legal requirements in their jurisdiction, including the code of conduct or practice standards of your regulator

6.4 Independent judgement, verification and cross border differences

Members must exercise independent professional judgement at all times and should verify any information before applying it to a patient.

Members should assume that clinical guidance offered within the Club may not transfer directly to their own country. Drug names, concentrations, formulations, licensing status, availability, legal classification, permitted routes of supply, surgical norms, referral pathways, diagnostic thresholds and welfare legislation all vary between jurisdictions and change over time. A product routinely used in one country may be unavailable, unlicensed or unlawful in another. Members are responsible for checking current data sheets, formularies, import rules and local regulations before acting.

6.5 Urgent and unstable patients

The Club is not monitored continuously. Members and Contributors are spread across many time zones, and responses may be delayed by many hours, or may be partial or absent. Urgent, painful, sight threatening or unstable patients must be assessed, treated or referred immediately, without waiting for any response from the Club. Examples in ophthalmology include, but are not limited to, suspected globe rupture or perforation, deep or melting corneal ulceration, glaucoma, lens instability, acute vision loss, orbital cellulitis and ocular trauma.

6.6 Contributors speak personally

Contributors, including specialists and guest speakers, participate in a personal capacity. Their views are their own and do not represent the views of their employer, practice, university, professional body or any organisation with which they are associated. Specialist status does not convert an informal comment into a formal clinical opinion, a written report or a referral. Specialist and diplomate titles are jurisdiction specific and a title held in one country does not imply recognition in another.

6.7 Recorded and archived content

Recorded lectures, older posts and archived discussions reflect the knowledge, evidence and licensing position at the time of recording, in the country of the presenter. They are not updated automatically and may become outdated or locally inapplicable.

6.8 Artificial intelligence

Where any Content is produced or summarised with the assistance of automated or artificial intelligence tools, it remains subject to this disclaimer in full and must be verified before clinical use.

7. Client confidentiality, consent and data protection

Members must:

  • remove or anonymise all personally identifiable client and patient information before posting, including names, addresses, contact details, microchip numbers, insurance details, referral letters and identifiable practice management system screenshots
  • ensure they hold the necessary permission to share clinical records, images, videos and other patient information, whether through client consent, practice consent forms or their practice's own policies
  • comply with the confidentiality and data protection law of their own country, which may be stricter than these terms
  • obtain consent from the referring or treating practice where the case is not their own
  • not post information about identifiable third parties, including colleagues, clients, other practices or named individuals, in a manner that is defamatory, disparaging or in breach of confidence

We are not responsible for a member's failure to obtain consent or to anonymise material adequately. If you post material in breach of this section, we may remove it without notice, and you remain responsible for any consequences.

Our handling of your personal data

Our Privacy Policy at www.eyevetclub.com/privacy sets out in full how we collect, use, share and store personal data, the lawful basis for each use, how long we keep it and what rights you have. It forms part of these terms.

In summary: we are Insight Veterinary Education Pty Ltd, an Australian company, and we handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Where we offer the Club to members in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, we also comply with the UK GDPR and EU GDPR as applicable. Members in those regions have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to their data protection authority. Members elsewhere may have equivalent rights under local law and may exercise them by contacting us at info@insightvet.co.

International transfer

The Club is hosted on Skool, a third party platform based in the United States, and we operate from Australia. Your personal data is therefore stored and processed outside your country of residence, including in Australia and the United States. Australia is not the subject of a United Kingdom or European Union adequacy decision.

Where personal data is transferred from the European Economic Area, we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. Where personal data is transferred from the United Kingdom, we rely on those clauses together with the International Data Transfer Addendum issued by the UK Information Commissioner. These safeguards apply to the transfer, and we do not rely on your acceptance of these terms. You may request a copy of the relevant safeguard by emailing info@insightvet.co. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Skool processes your data under its own terms and privacy policy, and we are not responsible for Skool's processing, security or availability.

8. Intellectual property

Content made available within the Club, including lectures, slides, recordings, written resources, protocols, cheat sheets, images and branding, is owned either by us or by the individual Contributor who created it, and is protected by copyright under Australian law and under the international copyright conventions applying in your country.

Where Content is owned by a Contributor rather than by us, we hold a licence permitting us to make it available to members through the Club. In either case, your rights as a member are the same, and are set out below.

Membership grants you a limited, personal, non exclusive, non transferable, revocable licence to access and use that Content for your own professional development and internal clinical reference only.

You must not:

  • download, record, screenshot, screen capture or otherwise reproduce Content except where a download is expressly provided
  • share, forward, republish, post or upload Content outside the Club, including to social media, messaging groups, file sharing services or other communities
  • use Content in teaching, lecturing, CPD or CE delivery, marketing, client facing material or any commercial context without our prior written permission
  • use Content or member data to train, fine tune or evaluate any machine learning or artificial intelligence system
  • reverse engineer, resell or attempt to recreate the Club's materials or offering

Where we grant permission for reuse, attribution to Eye Vet Club is required.

Your content. You retain ownership of material you post. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, royalty free, non exclusive licence to host, display, reproduce and adapt that material for the purposes of operating the Club and, in anonymised form, for teaching, promotional and educational use. You confirm you have the right to grant this licence. You may ask us to remove your material and we will do so within a reasonable period, subject to any material already incorporated into recordings or archived discussions. Where your local law grants you moral rights or similar rights, you consent to the use described here to the extent permitted by that law.

Recording. Live sessions may be recorded and made available to members. By attending, you consent to being recorded. If you do not wish to appear, keep your camera and microphone off and do not submit questions verbally.

9. Community guidelines

Members are expected to behave professionally and courteously at all times. The following are not permitted:

  • abusive, discriminatory, harassing, threatening or defamatory conduct
  • public criticism of named individuals, practices or organisations
  • promotional posts, recruitment advertising, product selling or solicitation of members for commercial purposes without our prior written consent
  • posting confidential material belonging to an employer, practice or third party
  • misrepresenting your qualifications, registration status or professional title, including use of specialist or diplomate titles not recognised in your country
  • posting content that is unlawful in Australia or in your own country, or that infringes the intellectual property rights of others
  • automated scraping, bulk downloading or extraction of Club content or member details

Members come from a wide range of countries, training backgrounds, regulatory systems and levels of resource. Standards of care, available drugs, referral options and welfare expectations differ legitimately between them. Members should engage with that difference constructively rather than dismissively. Disagreement handled respectfully is welcome and is a normal part of clinical discussion. Personal attacks are not.

We may remove content, issue warnings, restrict posting rights, suspend or terminate membership at our discretion where these standards are not met. We are not obliged to monitor or moderate all Content and we do not endorse any member's opinions.

Where we become aware of conduct that suggests a serious risk to animal welfare or a serious breach of professional obligations, we may report it to the relevant regulator.

10. Third party content, products and links

The Club may include guest speakers, external links, product references, equipment discussion and third party materials. These are provided for information only. We do not endorse, warrant or accept responsibility for third party content, products or services, or for any transaction you enter into with a third party.

Where a Contributor has a commercial relationship with a company whose products are discussed, we expect that relationship to be declared. We cannot guarantee that every such interest is disclosed.

11. Availability and scheduling

The Club is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error free access. Access depends on the Skool platform and on your own internet connection, and may be interrupted for maintenance, technical failure or matters outside our control. Interruptions do not entitle you to a refund unless access is unavailable for a materially prolonged period.

Live sessions are scheduled in Sydney and London time zones and will not suit every time zone. We aim to make recordings available to all members, but we do not guarantee that any given session will be recorded, that recordings will be published within a particular period, or that live attendance will be possible from your location.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither the Club operator nor any Contributor accepts liability for any injury, deterioration, death, loss, damage, claim, cost or expense arising directly or indirectly from the use of, inability to use, or reliance upon any Content or any aspect of the Club. This includes, without limitation:

  • clinical loss or adverse patient outcome
  • financial loss, loss of income, loss of revenue, loss of profits, loss of business or loss of anticipated savings
  • reputational damage, regulatory action or disciplinary proceedings
  • claims brought by clients, employers, insurers or other third parties
  • loss of data or loss arising from unavailability of the Club
  • indirect, special or consequential loss of any kind

Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified. Where the Australian Consumer Law applies and permits us to limit our liability, our liability for failure to comply with a consumer guarantee in relation to services is limited, at our option, to resupplying the services or paying the cost of having the services resupplied.

Other jurisdictions. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the law applicable to you.

Cap. Subject to the two paragraphs above, our total aggregate liability to you in respect of all claims arising in any twelve month period is limited to the total membership fees paid by you to us in that period.

13. Insurance and indemnity

Members remain responsible for maintaining appropriate professional indemnity insurance and any other insurance required for their clinical activities in their own country. Membership of the Club and participation in its discussions do not provide indemnity cover and do not transfer clinical responsibility to us or to any Contributor.

Members should also be aware that their own indemnity policy may not cover advice acted upon from an unofficial or informal source, or advice originating outside their jurisdiction. Checking that position with your insurer is your responsibility.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify us and our Contributors against any claim, loss, cost or expense arising from your breach of these terms, your posting of material without appropriate consent or anonymisation, or your clinical decisions.

14. General

Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified to members through the Club or by email, and will take effect 30 days after notice. Continued use of the Club after that date constitutes acceptance.

Language. These terms are provided in English. Any translation is for convenience only and the English version prevails.

Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable in your jurisdiction, that provision applies to the maximum extent permitted there and the remainder continues in force.

No waiver. A delay or failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to do so later.

Assignment. We may assign or transfer these terms to a successor entity, including on a reorganisation, incorporation of a joint venture, or sale of the business. You may not transfer your membership.

Entire agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any purchase terms presented at checkout, form the entire agreement between us in relation to your membership.

Disputes. Before commencing proceedings, both parties agree to attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute by direct discussion, and to allow at least 30 days from written notice of the dispute for that discussion. This does not prevent either party seeking urgent interim relief.

Governing law. These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales, Australia, have non exclusive jurisdiction. Where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally or applies protections that cannot be contracted out of, that right and those protections are unaffected.

15. Acceptance

By accessing Eye Vet Club, posting a case, participating in discussion, attending a session or using any information made available through the Club, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accepted these Membership Terms, the Clinical Disclaimer and the Community Guidelines set out above.

Questions about these terms should be directed to info@insightvet.co.
